I agree America would beat Britain. The only thing is the matter of who is who's allies. Still the British were beast for frightimg Germany simglehandedly but the us fought wars in both theaters, Europe & the pacific. Overall I beleive the USA would dominate once our industrial production got in motion.

well not really the only difference anything would make is if britain got russia but that still would doubtfully get a win for the Brits do to highly inferior ships (based on what US had at the end of the war) they had pretty equal planes but the U.S had more giving them large advantage plus the shermans if deployed in large numbers in Soviet theater could easily win battles against T-34s (if they had large numbers) plus with the highly skilled american bomber pilots london would be creamed and they would also launch heavy bombing raids on all of russias key cities and industrial areas... basically what woulda happened back then if this were the scenario

It mostly depends on allies, strenght in numbers.

the u.s. is the safest nation on earth currently even in the 40s invasion is really impossible unlees you ahve millions of ships and billions of men we have 2 oceans protecting us and only 2 neighboring countries mexico and canada both are not likely to go to war with us also in the u.s. patriotism is high and as seen any time america has been attacked the american people want to respond in full force

I don't know about that in the 40s Mexico could have been used as a staging ground for an invasion and if it was Britain they would invade from Canada

no way the brits or mexicans could ever invade U.S do remember in our young days we fended off the strongest nation and one conquered lands of one of the strongest empres (mexico)and if the japs invaded in 1942 i highly doubt they woulda got past the rockies not even the nazis could conquer us cuz well our army has for a long time easily been the strongest, our navy is easily the strongest, and same with the air force (becuz of vast numbers) so any invasion attempt would be futile to any country (even china cuz they dont have a strong navy and getting them across the ocean would be futile as they would be constantly raided by fleets and even the bering straigh would be defended the only way U.S could lose a war is if it was nuclear and we would just tie it by destroying the other nation)

still would fail miserably... the battle of the great lakes would be epic and in the winter no way brits would survive Minn. (too many lakes makes it freezing and often gets to -15 degrees) the brits would take horrific losses crossing the Rio Grande and if the even tried to take any northern states... pssh forget it... anyways with the Monroe Doctrine teh U.S would declare war on U.K and support Mexico and Canada preventing any British imperial reign on them

I think the U.S would win simply because they can mass produce weapons ammunition and supplies once they get it running it would be a never ending supply. But if your looking at this from a strategic point of view it would be even because both U.S and Britan have highly advanced technology and weapons now if Britan got its hands on a major flaw in one of americas technology that could be a turning point but the same goes for the U.S

one problem with ur theory tho... the u.s AF would man handle the british AF, then with the british AF outta the way the U.S navy would again man handle the british navy then it would be non stop bombing (if were speaking present terms)

In the scenario originally posed, the US would win. Here's why...

The invasion of Northern France by Britain.

By invading France, Britain destroys her best chance of survival by destroying European unity. Nations in Europe would likely view this as unwelcome and unlawful expansionism by Britain. Because of this, several European nations would be much more willing to act as staging grounds for US forces, and possibly engage Britain with their own forces. At that point Britain would face the bulk of the EU, the United States and her allies, and possibly Russia and China. Not even British tenacity could withstand the onslaught that would ensue.

That being said, if Britain did not engage it's fellow European nations, and there were justifiable grievances on both sides of the conflict, I don't believe either side would win.

The EU, and other nations would not support a US occupation of Britain. To invade Britain would be invading Europe.

Invading the US would pose it's own challenges, and would be as difficult for Britain as an invasion of the EU would be for the United States. Thus any war would simply end in tens of thousands dead, and a negotiated settlement with no clear victor.

so basically it would be just like the war of 1812? no one won that war just ended in a peace treaty

Invading Britain would be virtually impossible without staging grounds in Europe, and most European nations have no interest in a US foothold in Europe.

On the flip side, the US would be a very difficult country to invade even if one of our neighbors assisted an enemy. The shear volume and layout of the country means that there's plenty of area to retreat, consolidate a defense, and mount a brutally effective counter offensive.

i doubt russia and china combined could conquer past teh rockies, they are too bib and their navies carrying the troops would get sunk by constant raids, also our B-2s would destroy their ports and pick off major cities one by one until none of them is left (lol a little of topic) but i dont think it will ever be possible for britain to conquer us, reason being tehy lost to an army of inexperienced farm boys that have only gotten 150/100% better

this topics dumb one the monroe doctrine is no longer part of u.s. foriegn policy its still in some areas an ideailogical policy. also no country would ever try to invade the u.s. this ideas like the movie red dawn it was too stupid in its plot for me to finish it

Well this topic has gotten abit serious now hasnt it? this is something that would never happen and if im right the majority of posts are from americans? guys stop thinking about war all the time. talk about gun ho or what. theres taking things seriously then theres taking things way over the top and i see that happening right now on this topic. Dont think im starting an arguement because im not. im stating a few facts but while im here lets say we were invaded by an alien race from another world. The turn out to that would be this whole planet would get its ass kicked. we simply do not have the technology to fend off such an attack and it doesnt matter whether its america or britain or france or the whole planet fighting. we would loose.
