Well I just bought the game today. I installed it no problem, but when I went to run the game I got as far as the load screen when my screen suddenly went black. I then got an Windows error message that stated bsp.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. I've been searching around trying to find a solution to this problem but I have not found any. Is there anything I can do or do I have to live with the fact I just spent money on a brand new game that isn't going to work?
Good luck with this. I went round and round with EIDOS on this and they continue to insist it's my computer. They ignore the fact that there are a lot of people who are having this problem and the odds of everyone having the exact same configuration to cause this are tiny. EIDOS' final answer...they offered to send me a wrapped boxed game to return if I haven't had it more than 90 days and they would get it out in 4-6 weeks which means well over 90 days.
This is the last EIDOS game I will pay for and I hope their company folds from bad PR.

So I am wondering. It has been the better part of a week since I posted up my issue. I can play the demo just fine, but not the main game itself. Is there anything I can do to get this game running?
Pasting a dxdiag on these forums would be a nightmare to read. If possible try uploading your dxdiag and msinfo files somewhere and linking to them here so we can look over them. Your system spec seems fine but there may be something else causing a problem.
Also, make sure you have DirectX 9.0c installed, this is even more important to do on Vista. Update your graphics card drivers by uninstalling your current graphics card drivers, rebooting when prompted then installing the latest drivers from www.nvidia.com
- Click on the Windows icon located by default in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
- In the "Start Search" field, type in MSINFO32
- Press Enter. This will start the MS System Information Utility
- Once the Microsoft System Information window appears, click System Summary on the left-hand side and make sure it is highlighted.
- At the top of the window, click File and select Save.
- When the Save As window appears, choose to save the file to the Desktop.
- Enter the name as MSINFO, then click the Save button.
- Attach this file to your email.
[Dxdiag]
- Click on the Windows icon located by default in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
- In the "Start Search" field, type in DxDiag.
- Press Enter. This will start the DxDiag utility.
- Once the DirectX Diagnostic Tool appears, click on the Save All Information button at the bottom.
- When asked to where to save the file to, click on the drop-down box next to Save in and select Desktop.
- In File Name box towards the bottom, then name DxDiag.txt should appear. Leave this as is and click on the OK button.
- Click the Exit button to exit the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
- On the Desktop, there should be a file name DxDiag or DxDiag.txt. If there is no file with this name, please repeat the steps above and make sure to save the file to the Desktop.
- Attach this file to your email.
EIDOS support, I've sent my dxdiag file to you via a support ticket twice. I've also explained that there are about 6 people I play with regularly who all have the same problem and all of our systems are different so please stop trying to insist it's an individual computer issue. IT'S NOT! We have been troubleshooting this problem between us for months now and there are only two common items between us, BSP and Live. I'm not talking rookies here either, among this group are folks who build computers for a living, who work on computers for a living, who have been using computers since the 80s so we have some idea of what we are doing. I wish I could say the same of the support I have seen so far.

You have to be kidding me. Thanks for wasting my money and more importantly my time EIDOS. Hope the Hungry staff doesn't need to use theis game in their portfolio while looking for a job.
What is wrong with this? All I did was added a new monitor (now running @ 1920 x 1080 - used to be 1440 x 900). first night I had the new monitor it worked fine. Second night It crashed every game I played. Can someone suggest a fix. I am sure it won't come from EIDOS - since they don't support shit - or will blame it on my machice. 8 games 8 CTD's WTF!!!
Turbo
System is running XP (all patches and updates)
nVidia 9800GTX+
4 GB RAM
I had 3 consecutive all or nearly all client (not me the host, and sometimes 1 client would also not crash) crashes the other day and this is something i observed.
One person was in these 3 games that crashed, next game after this,he had gone elsewhere and we had crash free games from then on.
Now I'm not even suggesting this guy was causing these crashes intentionally, rather some software, hardware or driver combo on his machine was causing this.Soon as he was gone everything was fine.
So Turbo, i ask if you can remember in your 8 consecutive crash if there was one person who was trying to play in all 8 games? I would say somebody other than the normal people you play with as i play with you and most of the regulars and its normally pretty smooth sailing.
Now obviously I'm not saying there is only one person with this problematic software, hardware or driver .cfg that causes this, there is a number.
And you won't believe what it is/was. Since I hooked up a new HD monitor to my PC I was noticing some Video lag when I would take torp hits. So I figured I would lower my poly count by turning off some of the eye candy. This included turning off the shadows, ocean reflection, and motion blur. That is when I consistently crashed to Desktop (CTD) with a bsp.exe error.
I traced back my steps and re-enabled shadows and Ocean reflection and have had flawless game play since. I had someone I was playing with turn off their shadows and ocean reflection and don't ya know they crashed and received the bsp/cad error that I see others are having.
So I urge you to check your video options to see what you have enabled or disabled (seems to be the settings between Shadows and down to Motion Blur here is how I have them set - maybe you can selectively enable/disable to see what works for you...
Texture = High
Obj Detail - High
Shadows - Enabled
Ocean reflection Enabled
Clouds - Disabled
Foliage - Enabled
Motion blur - Disabled
Retro Film - Off
I had same problem, when first installed it loaded & I played the game but the music wouldn't turn off & the sliders made no difference so all other sound was spoilt.
The next time I loaded the game I got the bsp.ex problem & it failed to load.
I contacted Eidos UK support who replied & asked for DX printout etc.& continued to try to help so can't fault them there.
However I decided to load the game on another hardrive with it's own windows XP & it runs perfectly so it's definitely an individual PC problem. It won't work if I try to load the game on drive2 whilst running windows on drive 1 so I guess its a registry error
I am having a similar problem. Not only do I get a BSP.exe error when attempting to join multiplayer games, I am also unable to start a single player game. Each time I try, it shows the Radar game loading flash screen, suddenly darkens, then kicks me out to the Windows Desktop.
I spent all day yesterday updating my video driver, sound driver, Windows update, same problem. I even went to Steam, deleted local file content and redownloaded the entire game (took 4 hours). I still have the same problem.
I've even went to my video settings and turned off everything or reduced it to its lowest setting. While it appears to have gotten farther in loading a single player game, it still darkened and kicked me out to the Windows desktop.
My conclusion is really quite simple. Not only will I never EVER purchase and download a game through Steam, I will never EVER purchase an Eidos game. I would encourage starting FaceBook and Twitter campaigns to not purchase Eidos games or purchase them through Steam for that matter.
I just bought the game too and it installed fine (supposedly); however when I go to run it on my new ASUS G72GX (6GB RAM) and a GEFORCE GTX 260M with 1 GB VRAM the game doesn't even load. As it starts to load I get a "Windows checking for updates" message then a "There are no updates now Windows will close the application". I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64, tried to install reinstall twice, run as Administrator, etc. Battlestaions Midway runs fine on this system. I will never buy another Eidos game again if this is an example of their products!
This is funny. I contacted Eidos support. Registered with their support page. Told them my problem. Provided them my DXdiag.txt file, screen captures, etc.
They referred me to whom I purchased the game from, who is STEAM.
I registered with Steam support, basically copy-n-pasted my e-mail to Eidos. Wrote that Eidos referred me to them. Provided my DXdiag.txt, msinfo32 file, screen captures, etc.
I'm waiting for their reply now.
But while looking at Steams support page, I saw this in their support knowledge base:
(continued next post)
"Please contact Steam Support directly if you encounter any difficulty with:
* Any game developed by Valve - including Blue Shift and Opposing Force. (Valve will appear in the Developer column for the game on the My Games tab)
* Connecting to Steam or otherwise using a Steam account
* The process of purchasing a game through Steam, such as payment issues
* Registering a retail CD Key for a game on Steam
* Any errors which prevent the game from starting and appear in a Steam dialog box
* Any "Authentication" or "CD Key" related errors which appear after loading the game
"
It's like no one takes responsibility for anything anymore.
