I noticed this too. I set up the formation, but the ships never moved into position.

Wait what....
If you mean the 2 ohka carriers that respawn like every minute or so when shot down, you dont have to care about them that much... Just focus on getting the islands. And of course on andromeda and Yamato if you want the TBM-3 Avenger (which is damn strong plane... 2 wings of them can take out a battleship, if at least 4 hit)

Your lead ship may just be going too fast for the other ships to create the formation.

For instance, I tried to form up a bunch of cruisers. Under the AI, the cruisers slowed down to try and turn into the formation. However, my head ship was just cruising forward at full speed. I would suggest slowing the lead ship down until the formation is completed, and then going forward. Another thing that you can do is "zig-zag" your head ship so that it slows down as well to turn.

My DD would not move into position with a CA. It should have been able to do so easily. I reset it several times.

ive tried the slowing down , it actually helps SOMETIMES, sometimes it seems the formations just do not want to work, and other times they work good. on the plus side when they are working good they get to formation pretty quickly, or at least as quickly as they can, slowing down also helped your follow ships to get in line faster.

If you click the right stick in the formation editor screen there is a way to select column, line and diamond formations. admittedly it's not as good as making your own but they do work.

The AI will cheat if it needs to get into formation. In a DD select 2 others to join the formation, then select column formation. It will place you in the middle with one in front and one behind you. The ship that needs to get in front will be able to go a few kts over max speed to get into formation.

This can help to get islands captured quickly because if you spawn and set off at flank speed the point unit or two will catch and over take you potentially starting that island capture 30 seconds- 1 minute before you could get there at flank speed

Yes I hope they fix this because it's pissing me off. There is no way to fix this either in game.

For instance if you reduce the lead ships speed to 3/4 or Half (in a effort for the other ships to catch up and get into formation) then the other ships just slow to the same speed immediately.

What Edios needs to do is program the lead ship to go 3/4 speed until all other ships are in formation and then the lead ship increases it's speed to full while the others match.

If you had read my post above your you will have seen that speed is not the issue at all. The AI can go faster than top speed to get into formation.

I can set off in 5 Shimakaze at full speed, select column formation and 2 Shimakaze will over take me and get into position.

There is still problems. The ships do not get into formation in multiplayer at all unless you are the host.

In single player it works fine, in multiplayer it works also if your hosting. Otherwise if your not host all the ships go the same speed and do not move into formation. They go straight and thats it.
